Chiropractic Schools in South Carolina

Monday, March 31st, 2008

By Michael Bustamante Chiropractic is a holistic medicine that is taught in several South Carolina chiropractic schools. The ancient art of chiropractic is based on the philosophy that the human body can achieve and maintain health without prescription drugs or needless surgeries. Those with a desire to learn holistic health practices should seek chiropractic schools that espouse a strong philosophy of natural healing. Chiropractic schools in South Carolina provide training that promotes natural, drug-free, non-invasive chiropractic medicine. Students will study several physical sciences, as well as X-ray, assessment and diagnostics, nutrition, communication skills, and counseling. Chiropractic students will gain extensive, practical hands-on experience in spinal and joint adjustments that help promote natural recuperation, added strength, and general good health in patients. Aspiring chiropractors learn methods of determining health needs of individual patients, evaluation, and diagnosis. Students are taught to consider individual stress factors, daily exercise, adequate rest, fluid and nutritional intake, and genetic makeup. Chiropractic schools will usually provide a supervised clinical setting for students to practice diagnostic skills and hone their spinal adjusting techniques. Chiropractic schools in South Carolina offer the option to obtain certificates and Bachelor Science (BS), Master of Science (MS), and Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) Degrees. Students may specialize in orthopedics, sports injuries, neurology, nutrition, diagnostic imaging, or internal disorders. The serious student should allow four to six years of intense chiropractic studies, including an internship. If you are considering opening your own chiropractic practice, you should invest in additional business courses beyond those received in your chiropractic training. This extra step could mean the difference between operating a thriving chiropractic business and one that is more prone to failure. Practicing chiropractors are well-rewarded for their efforts. Salaries are reported to be between $70,000 and $120,000 or more annually. Geographic location, experience and level of education will greatly influence income expectations, but employment prospects are excellent for chiropractors now and in the future. Have Your Mocha and Fat Loss Too

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

By Lynn VanDyke You have made a commitment to lose 10 pounds in the next 2 months. You are eating well and working out regularly. You are committed in every way possible- except 1. Your specialty coffee drink of choice. Mochas, frappuccinos, breves and everything in between. You just cannot give up your daily cup of mocha madness. I don’t blame you. In fact I think the moment you begin to deprive yourself of anything you start a vicious cycle. You start craving the one thing you told yourself you cannot have. So what if we stop denying ourselves of our heavenly coffee drinks? Is it possible to still be on a diet and drink mochas? Yes, it absolutely is. And I am living proof that you can still indulge and have a fabulous body. I admit that I drink one mocha beverage per day. So if I can do it, you can do it to. Go ahead you have my permission! But before you run out the door and order 4 venti mocha fraps you should know a few other things. I think that allowing yourself a treat is good and necessary for long term success. The very first thing I think you should do is this- stop dieting. A diet implies negative emotions. It implies that you are restricting your calories and your joy. It also implies that you are going to stop eating according to the diet at some point. After all, who wants to diet all of their life? Not me. So let’s stop dieting. Let’s make a lifestyle change. Let’s focus more on things we should eat instead of things we should not eat. Let’s focus on all of our accomplishments and not on our failures. In fact, we do not even have failures. We simply had times when we were not as successful as we would have hoped. Let’s also get a few other things in place. Here are 5 tips to fat loss. Incorporate each of these 5 tips into your new lifestyle change. I know that you will see results. You will feel better, happier, and healthier. You will have more energy and more self-esteem. You will feel good about your body because you are living a clean and healthy life. Here are the 5 tips to fat loss- 1) Eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day. Each meal should be 2-3 hours apart. Each meal should contain one protein and one carb. The first meal should be eaten within an hour after waking. 2) Drink a glass of water at each meal. 3) Rest properly. This means taking at least 48 hours between strength training the same muscles, and it also means getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Lastly, it means taking 1-2 days off from exercising per week. 4) Cardio should be done at different intensity levels and different session lengths. Consider doing a low intensity/long session, a high intensity/short session and a few medium intensity/medium length sessions. Working at varying intensity levels will ensure a well-rounded routine. 5) Strength train each muscle 1-3 times per week. You should lift a proper weight and perform the proper amount of sets/reps for your strength training method. Strength training is not hard once you have an excellent routine in place. Focus on proper form and a full range of motion. All of the above tips combined will result in fat loss. Now that we are living a healthy life and not dieting we can let go of all guilt. So long as you follow these 5 tips to fat loss then you can have a non-fat venti mocha with whipped cream. The key is moderation. The secret to long-term success is to eat well, workout often and never, ever deprive yourself of your mocha. Weight Loss and Metabolism Secrets

Friday, March 28th, 2008

By James Penn So what do you need to know about metabolism and how can it help you to achieve your weight loss goals? This is a very important question that needs to be answered. The higher the metabolic rate the more calories you burn, the better the weight loss. Surprisingly and contrary to what appears to be basic logic, eating less can sometimes slow your diet down, or at least it can slow down the amount of weight loss. There is not an answer that will suit everyone as to how many calories is enough to help with your weight loss. Although the metabolism can slow when dieting to achieve weight loss it is believed by some that exercise can help. First the metabolic rate can be higher when exercising and so help to burn off those extra calories and help weight loss. Also exercising so that you gain more muscle can help to burn more calories as it thought that muscle burns calories more quickly than fat. One of the best ways to improve your metabolic rate and at the same time gain more muscle and help weight loss is to do more exercise. This can not only help to burn calories but also to add to the amount of muscle and allow the body to burn the calories more efficiently. Being overweight can lead to great many health problems, as well as just being uncomfortable and feeling hopeless if you keep trying, without success, to diet. How to Burn the Most Fat and Tone Your Body with Performance Enhancement Training

Monday, March 24th, 2008

By Chaney Weiner People now more than ever are looking for the quickest and safest ways to burn the most fat and to tone their bodies. Most gyms across the country are filled with people who are trying to achieve their dream body. The reality is that most of those who are in quest of their dream body fall way short and never achieve their dream body. Why is this so? One of the factors is the training they are doing. Go into almost every gym/health club and you will see people doing almost all of their exercises either lying down or sitting on a machine. Furthermore you will even see personal trainers on a routine basis prescribing exercises to these very same people that have them lying down or sitting down on a machine. Then as time goes on these people do not see the results they wanted to achieve and so they give up. What is the solution to this and how can it be overcome. The answer is simple, through performance enhancement training. What is performance enhancement training? Performance enhancement training is training that conditions the body through basic skill movements utilizing gravity, momentum, ground reaction forces, and 360 degrees of movement in order to improve stability, balance, coordination, strength and power, and most importantly, reduce the likelihood of injury. You may be asking, what does this have to do with burning the most fat and toning your body? In order to burn the most calories in the shortest amount of time, the proper training must be done. Keep in mind that exercises and training are done from one of 4 positions: lying down, sitting down, standing (ground based), standing with movement. The lying down and sitting down positions burn the least amount of calories but yet these are the positions that most people train from. Is it any wonder why most people are not looking the way they want. The standing position burns more calories than the aforementioned positions and is highly suggested. Performance enhancement training utilizes predominantly the standing position and with full body movement, which is the best position to exercise in order to burn the most fat and tone your body in the shortest amount of time. Examples of performance enhancement exercises include lunges, reaching lunges, various forms of squats, standing presses with a step, standing pulls with a step, and various standing abdominal exercises. In order to achieve the body of your dreams it is vital to incorporate the right training into your exercise routine. The quickest, fastest, and safest way to that ideal body involves burning the most calories while toning up in the shortest amount of time and that is achieved best through performance enhancement training. Chaney Weiner is a performance enhancement specialist and motivational coach. He has created a unique system of training that incorporates fitness training along with reprogramming the mind for success that helps both men and women change their bodies to look, feel, and perform better faster than ever before.Visit http://www.achievingbodiesfitness.com to receive your free copy of The 24 Best Motivational Fat Loss Tips Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Chaney_Weiner http://EzineArticles.com/?How-to-Burn-the-Most-Fat-and-Tone-Your-Body-with-Performance-Enhancement-Training&id=434120 ambien pill sleeping ambien sample xpress rx ambien zolpidem 5 10mg fedex generic name for ambien

The Healing Arts: 18 Things Healers Learn, #17; Answers Appear In the Space In Between

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Russ Reina It has been said of Frank Sinatra that his power as a singer was not so much in what he did with the notes, but what he did with the space in between those notes. In music, tones come out of nowhere and recede back into nothing, and their relationship with each other and those spaces combine to make up the body of a complete piece that moves us. There is no music without the space in between; it is defined by it. There are no words without the space in between. There is nothing that exists without the space in between. It is as integral and essential as the matter that defines our universe. The space in between is not empty, for too much goes on there. It is a place, however, where there are no distractions; a free space through which everything else comes forth as a result of interaction. Without it, we would be an immense, formless thing called the One. In one sense, the space in between is the glue that holds us apart. Out of that space comes creation. Within that space there occurs a sorting and assimilation of factors from all levels of experience; the immediate physical, the current emotional, the symbolic, and the accumulation of past experiences into an expression of a new moment. So much of this goes unnoticed, it is no surprise that a new thought often appears to come from nowhere. Of course that nowhere is the space in between where everything that is available to you both seen and unseen coalesces into a subtle shift that defines the direction of the next moment. Have you ever had the experience of discovering a new connection, finding a new way to see things, or seeing something for the first time within the context of the familiar? Where did those experiences come from? Perhaps it is an indication that the space in between is where thought becomes reality; the passageway through which energy becomes matter. No matter how you view it, the space in between is anything but a vacuum. And it is where co-creation occurs. Find a partner (or two or three) and stand a few feet away from each other. One of you will use your hands and body to define the dimensions and weight of an invisible ball. Make sure the other(s) can see what is being done, then, that person will toss it to one of the others, who will catch what is thrown to her, form it into a ball of a different size, shape and weight, and throw it back to another to catch. Was that a real experience? There is nothing in your hands at the beginning. Out of that nothing evolves a shape. To that shape is added weight. Once that ball leaves your hands, something happens to it enroute; the recipients interpretation of what you offered is imposed on that object and it begins to morph into something else. At first, it is an approximation of the ball that was first defined. Then, it gets translated from the vision of the originator into the vision of the recipient; essentially, run through the filters of the recipients life and his relationship with the moment. There is a point at which the ball is neither the originators nor the recipients. It becomes a unique expression of where the two meet. In essence, all interactions happen this way. An originating moment gets affected by outside influences and becomes a new moment. The acts of observation, interpretation, and response all take place in the space in between the illusion of empty time that exists between moments. The space in between is where everything that is in front of you is assimilated with everything youve ever experienced to that point in your life and pitted against the influences of the moment. Out of that relationship, something happens. The space in between is the place where you get the directions about how, what, where, and when the tools that youve been gifted with are to be used, and how they can be applied to the situation/person at hand. The power and effectiveness of what you do are determined right there. If what you choose to do doesnt work, where do you go? Right back into the space in between to find a new approach. The implication for the healer lies in recognizing that the space in between is not about the originator, it is about the new that springs forth from the interplay between originator and recipient. It is a by-product of that connection, rather than a reflection of one point of view. For the healer, working with the space in between means keeping it as uncluttered by self as possible. In that way, the special healing alchemy that results when two people come together can be allowed to come to full realization. Russ Reina shares over 35 years of experience in the healing arts through his web site http://mauihealingartist.com. How To Find A No-Bake Cookie Recipe

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

By Ann Krause One of the most popular recipes around, the no-bake cookie recipe is one that just about everyone has sought out at least once. The problem is that the search can be confusing, full of unnecessary information and blind leads. While just about all general purpose cookbooks contain their fair share of cookie recipes, with all the favorites like chocolate chip, peanut butter and sugar cookies. But the no-bake cookie is an odd duck, and frequently doesn’t make the cut when editors decide what to include in their offerings. Oddly enough, because of the relative simplicity of the recipes, and the fact that no hot ovens or other dangerous utensils are generally involved, one of the best sources for no bake recipes are children’s cookbooks; that is cookbooks designed either for kids directly or for parents teaching little ones their way around the kitchen. Of course, finding kids’ cookbooks can be a challenge in and of itself. Often times, bookstores don’t file them with the regular cookbooks, not considering them proper culinary literature. They’re more often found with the children’s books, alongside Dora the Explorer, Clifford, Bob the Builder and Dr. Seuss. They often have a theme, such as Halloween or Christmas recipes, or are built around one of the more popular kids TV characters. The advantage to these cookbooks for kids is that the recipes are usually very well tested. No publisher wants an army of ticked off parents beating on their doors (or their mailboxes) complaining that Little Johnny tried to make their cookies and the recipe failed. In fact, they’ll often be so simple as to be nearly error-proof. You may be a little bit appalled the first time you read one of the recipes at the simplicity, but if you mix your culinary know-how with the framework provided by one of no bake recipes, you’ll start to “cook” up your own variations. Who knows? You might be the first person to write a no-bake cookie recipe cookbook for adults! Selecting Men’s Formalwear For The Wedding

Monday, March 17th, 2008

By Rose Smith Have you ever noticed that weddings seem to be all about the bride? There’s information available for the wedding dress, shoes, makeup and accessories. But…what about the groom and hisushers? After all, they need to wear something to the wedding too! So, what should the groom (and his attendants) be wearing to a wedding? In most cases, it depends on the time of day that the wedding is to take place. If the wedding is to be a very formal evening affair, a tuxedo is required. For a morning or afternoon wedding, the attire of the men will depend more upon a combination of preferance and the type of wedding theme you’ve chosen. For example, the groom should not be showing up in a formal black tuxedo for a wedding on the beach. A lightweight and lighter color suit would be more appropriate. If you’re planning a very casual wedding, then lightweight dress pants, shirt, tie (optional) and blazer would be appropriate as well. The groom, father-of-the-bride, and groomsmen should all visit a professional formalwear shop for guidance and information on the type of attire that is available. Most men don’t realize just how many decisions go into choosing a wedding suit or tuxedo. You’ll need to choose from single-breasted and double-breasted jackets; collars that are peaked, notched or shawl; cummerbund or vest; bow tie, ascot (these are double-knot ties with ends folded over) or a casual tie. Also, it’s very important that everything coordinates with the attire of the bride and bridesmaids, so make sure you know exactly what they will be wearing and the colors chosen. (Take a fabric sample or a picture of the dresses). Unless you plan on attending a lot of formal occassions after the marriage, most men are better off renting their formalwear as opposed to buying it. There are a lot of men’s stores that carry large selections of wedding attire and they will do alterations on rented suits. However, before you rent anything, make sure you know what comes with the package. Do you need to buy the cummerbund and/or vest? Are the shoes included? What about the tie and shirt? Make sure you get a written receipt that states what is and is not included in the rental. The groom and other gentlemen should be measured for their suits approximately three months before the wedding. For any groomsmen who live out of town, they can go to a local shop for measurements, then send the information to the groom so he can set up the rental. Please make sure your ushers understand that they are not to make their own rental arrangements in another city. You will have no way of knowing if they actually picked the correct suit, color, or accessories until they show up for the wedding, at which point you will have one very unhappy bride - not a good thing! The groom should look after all the rental arrangements at one store only. Any groomsmen coming from out of town should arrive at least 2 to 3 days before the wedding for final measurements in case there needs to be last minute alterations done. Most rentals can be picked up a day or two in advance. Check the suits/tuxedos over carefully before leaving the store with them. Look for any stains, rips, snags or possible cigarette burns. Everyone should try their suit on to be sure it fits properly and the length of the pants and jacket sleeves are correct. Be sure to wear the shoes you will be wearing at the wedding for this. Check the cuffs and collar for frayed material, and make the jackets don’t have any buttons missing. After the wedding, the bestman usually returns his own and the groom’s suit to the formalwear shop by the next business day. The groomsmen are responsible for returning their own suits, also within the next business day to avoid late charges. Small food or beverage stains can usually be removed easily enough, however if a suit is heavily damaged, be prepared to pay for it. So fellows, be careful during the wedding! EAT CARBS Without Gaining Weight!

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

By Sherry Granader You have lost weight by avoiding the carbs you pass up the local Bakery and order protein and vegetables at restaurants. You ask the waiter to take the bread basket away and forget dessert right!? Have you noticed a change in your mood? Do you still crave carbs? For many people, low-carb eating is not satisfying for the long term. They continue to eat their steak and eggs but at some point miss their whole wheat toast or their favorite pasta dish. It is possible to re-introduce carbs if you introduce the right carbs in the right way! You might gain some weight but that is because carbs hold water in the body. When you start adding carbs back in, you are going to store water which is a good thing. Start by looking at your diet! WHAT ARE YOU ACTUALLY EATING EVERYDAY? This might surprise you because many people are following low-carb diets but are eating more carbs then they realize! Many people start with a low-carb plan of less than 20 grams of carbs per day and then increase it gradually! Less than 60 grams per day is pretty standard during the weight loss phase! One slice of bread has 15 grams of carbs! The best way to start is to stay away from PROCESSED CARBOHYDRATES like white bread, white rice, white pasta, French fries, baked goods and snack foods! They are all processed in the body like sugar because they create an exaggerated insulin response which lead to overeating and less staying power because they have LESS NUTRIENTS! Look for carbs that give you the most nutrition! Steel-cut oats for oatmeal, whole-grain bread for toast. The fiber content promotes good gastrointestinal health which lowers cholesterol and keeps you full! Whole fruits are fine because they are low in calories, natural sugar and high in fiber! Beans and legumes will fill you up without fattening you up and low-fat dairy products like yogurt will strengthen your bones and help your body with weight loss. Weight loss still comes back to calories so as you add carbs back into your diet, you must watch your calorie intake! There are over 100 studies that show weight loss is primarily due to decreased calories not decreased carbs! Watch your portion sizes especially at restaurants! What foods do you keep in your refrigerator? Your office? Your car? Do you eat standing up? Or on the run? The best advantage about the low-carb diets is that it has made people aware of their eating habits and portion sizes! They realized there are some good things about carbs like stimulating the production of serotonin the mood elevating chemical in the brain. The best trick is to enjoy your favorite carbs but not all at once! Do not have garlic bread, cheesecake and pasta all in the same meal. Here are some low-carb foods that have great flavor and texture! NET CARBS Manufacturers calculate net carbs by subtracting the carbs that come from fiber or sugar alcohols from the total grams of carbohydrates. Since carbs from fiber are NOT absorbed and those sugar alcohols are NOT turned into glucose, they are thought by some not to count as much. The U.S. FDA currently does not have a definition of net carbs or digestible carbs. 1. low-carb whole-wheat tortillas these have 80 calories per tortilla with 2 grams of total fat and only 12 grams of carbohydrates they taste better when heating or grilled! 2. Whole-grain breads usually have 80-90 calories per slice and 0.5 grams of fat with 16 grams of carbohydrates. This bread tastes better toasted and is a better choice than light, low-calorie bread 3. Multi-grain breads have 60 calories per slice and only 9 grams of carbohydrates. Always better tasting when toasted. 4. low-carb pasta has about 190 calories per cup with 1 gram of fat you will see on the label 42 grams of carbohydrates that include 4 grams of fiber so a NET carb of 38. It is a little chewier than full-carb pasta remember look at your fist that is the amount you should eat anyway so choose your favorite. 5. High-fiber cereal has about 100 calories per cup with about 2.5 grams of fat. 11 grams of total carbohydrates with 6 grams of fiber so a net carb of 5 grams. Crunchy, sweet and filling! Try it with some vanilla soy milk. Whole-grain carbohydrates are ideal for weight loss! They are filling and less refined because the whole-grain is intact before it is processed. Look for ingredients like whole wheat, whole barley, cracked wheat, graham flour, whole cornmeal, whole oats. Refined grains have been processed to remove the bran and germ try mixing brown or wild rice with some white rice. The low-carb breads do not provide as much nutrition as whole-grain breads Wheat flour found in whole-grain bread is more likely to be enriched with vitamins, folic acid and iron! You can still enjoy some good carbohydrates and still lose weight painlessly and not feel deprived. Remember, portion control does count and so does exercise at least 30 minutes per day! Everyday!
